Prep for Esophagoscopy & Bravo pH
Monitor
Three (3) Days Before Procedure
- Discontinue Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, Aciphex and Nexium.
Day Before Procedure
- Discontinue Tagamet, Zantac, Axid, Pepcid, Propulsid or Reglan.
- May take Maalox, Mylanta or Tums until midnight.
- Nothing to eat or drink after midnight (except sips of water with
medications, if any).
- You may have clear liquids until 4 hours before your procedure.
(only if your procedure is in the afternoon
12pm - 4pm)
Clear liquids include soft drinks, coffee,
tea, Popsicles, Jell-O, broth, clear juices and hard candy. NO RED
OR PURPLE! NO MILK! NO CORN OR FOOD WITH SEEDS!
Day of Procedure
- Take morning medications, if any, with a small sip of water.
- Bring your medications with you.
- Be sure to take Blood Pressure, Seizure and Heart medications.
- If you are a Diabetic, please call your physician for dosage of medicine
to be taken the morning of your test.
- If you take Aspirin or Blood Thinners, stop taking two days prior
to your procedure.
- Bring someone to drive you home (you will be here approximately 2
hours).
Patient should not have an MRI performed for at
least 30 days after Bravo pH procedure.
