Helicobacter Breath Test

Patient must wait at least 4 weeks after they are treated for a positive Helicobacter before having a breath test performed. (The treatment for this is usually 2 antibiotics and a PPI, ex: Prevacid, Prilosec, Protonix, Aciphex, or Nexium for 10-14 days).

Patient must stop all antibiotics, Pepto-Bismol, and/or Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, Aciphex, and Nexium for at least 2 weeks before the breath test is performed.


Day of Test

  • Nothing to eat or drink for (4) hours prior to test.
